I have found my dream piece of furniture!
Wait a minute...that's not it! Hold on...maybe I need to take a few steps to find it.
First, maybe I'll remove the beautiful cardboard backing.
Then, maybe that top half shelf and the shelf hidden behind those doors.

I don't think this color is the trendiest hue. Seems a little plain Jane to me.
I'll give it a little primer coat.
Then see how this Valspar "Santa Fe" holds up.

Dang, that looks pretty!
Guess I need to hold up my new shelves with something.
I'll try these pilaster strips.
(They're kind of a pain to hand saw to the right size, so I'll thank my husband and his arm strength for that!)
My baby really helped this project move along, as you can see by his helpful stance in the background.
I bet it would look nice with some doors! That painted lower shelf looks good already!

Well, I shouldn't leave the whole top part of the piece empty. How about three shelves and some extra hardware to hold...
WINE GLASSES!!
I like that idea!
After adding a much more stable backing to the piece, and the final two shelves, I think the end result is finally my dream piece of furniture!

Now, those who know me know my addiction to canning. This piece happens to be the best place to keep the private collection of Strawberry Margarita Syrup and Cranberry Ghost Chili Pepper Jelly, Corn Jelly and Caramel Apple Butter, Blueberry Lime Jam and Golden Raspberry Jam.
Did I mention that each shelf can hold FIFTY 8-oz jars?! I'm in heaven.

Of course, the whole idea for revamping that blaah original came from not being able to find a decent wine glass holder. There are plenty of wine BOTTLE holders available, but the problem in this wine lover's heart is that wine BOTTLES get tossed (because they are empty...). Meanwhile, every time we visit a winery, the glasses we buy have nowhere to be displayed!
So...VOILA!!
So...VOILA!!
We added the wine glass holders (let's see...5 on each row...3 rows...4 glasses in each holder...that's...uhhh) to display our ever growing collection of wine glasses. According to the wine glasses collected, we have been to 19 wineries that gave away or sold personalized glasses. Which leave spaces for 12 wineries. There is even space on the lower shelf to hold stemless glasses and our most prized wines - the dessert wines!
I'll see if I can find webpages for all 19 wineries that we have glasses for. It's been an awesome adventure and I am so glad this piece is now in my possession, filled with the glasses of our memories!
